The rest of this question is (neatly) answered by this little book.

That Rural Economy existed before Agricola is indicative of The Plan that Julius Caesar had for this island, when he arrived on her shores - on an elephant! Why? - because he could, that's why. (He was emperor, after all).

The Reason why the rural economy of Roman Britain worked at all - is as much a marvel as this little gem!

But THAT is found through diligent application and study, not in this little book but LATIN.

The lesson indicated, be that: without adequate library, there is no garden to cultivate :-(.
