I am just an average football fan with average knowledge of the game.  The book has helped me a lot.

It is a well organized book in 5 Parts and 20 Chapters.  At the end of each chapter is a list of things you have learned and there are some review questions to answer if you want.  Then Chapter 21 gives you a bunch of tips on how to watch a game.

I knew most of what was in the first 4 chapters, but it was fun and easy reading.  I didn’t mind.

I like the narrative of the book.  It’s like the author is just talking to you.  He’s funny too.  After you read the whole book, you know what each player does in various situations and where they normally line up before the snap.

The book will be a good reference book for me in the future.  The Glossary of 230 Terms is the best I have seen.  The Index of Terms (350 items) is easy to read and shows you where to get the best explanation of each football term or concept.

Louie du Ratte did a good job explaining some of the more difficult concepts.   His illustrations were simple and helpful, not just a bunch of X’s and O’s like some books I have read.nfl
