Very Good

This brief book contains a wealth of information about customs and trends among Bethlehemites, with a special focus on the Christian communities there. Enjoyable sections include recollections on what it was like growing up in Bethlehem during the Ottoman period, or the importance of the Crimean War for local Christians. Having visited the city many times, I still learned a great deal from this interdisciplinary effort, collated and edited by Dutch anthropologist Toine van Teeffelen, many scholars and locals contributed to the material in the book.
