TELL OTHERS
Tell Others, by Marjorie Struck
For anyone who is, or who has a family member who is, battling addiction, depression and suicidal thoughts, Marjorie Struck’s Tell Others is a must read. Marjorie tells the story of her family’s history from 1934 to 2017. She makes no excuses, nor does she sugar coat the tragedy that is in her family’s genes. I found Tell Others to be a heart breaking account of a family written by a member of that family whose desire was to educate others about the disease and mental illness. Marjorie’s goal is to help others understand that suicide and addiction should not be kept behind closed doors, in the closet, but rather to acknowledge that these are diseases that can be treated. Marjorie writes with a passion and knowledge as she tells the story of her family members. She interjects personal notes that add to the impact of each individual’s story. I would recommend Tell Others to anyone who would like to know more about how these diseases affect a family.
