When we believe we've seen everything, we realize those close to us are capable of horrible things. O Homem de Essen is a story that deals with dreams, ambition, ethics, right and wrong, justice and omission.
It tells the story of Elias, a poor boy who believed in the help he was getting but who was caught by the tentacles of the system. Here the material and the spiritual worlds, the real and the illusiory are entangled.
The use of rich details and vivid imagery combined with an easy-to-follow language make for a intense but pleasurable read. The reader is in the middle of the action right from the get-go and is forced to participate and not simply standby, and by the end of the story the reader is thirsty for more.
The book was published in Brazilian Portuguese (2005) in São Paulo. The American English edition is underway. The University of Cambridge (UK), the University of London (UK), and the Univerity of California (USA), as well as many libraries in São Paulo Brazil hold copies of O Homem de Essen.
